Official SDKs Are Here. Seven Languages. One Download.

The Wizard Application API lets you connect your workspace to the rest of your business: push new candidates in from a careers form, sync jobs to another system, send leads from your website or pull bookings into a report. Until now that meant writing your own HTTP calls, paging, error handling and retries. Today we are releasing official SDKs that do all of that for you.

Seven languages

One download includes a complete SDK for each of these languages, each with its own guide and a quick start example:

  • Python 3.8 or later
  • JavaScript and TypeScript on Node.js 18 or later, with type definitions included
  • PHP 8.0 or later
  • Ruby 3.0 or later
  • Go 1.18 or later
  • C# and .NET on .NET 6 or later
  • Java 11 or later

None of them pulls in any third party packages. Each one uses only its own language's standard library, so there is nothing extra to audit or keep up to date.

Everything the API offers

Every SDK works the same way, with naming that feels natural in each language. You can list, read, create, update and delete jobs, candidates, companies, bookings and leads, convert a lead, and work with your content types and content items.

  • Paging handled for you. Fetch a single page with filters and sorting, or iterate and the SDK walks through every page.
  • Clear errors. Every failure comes back as one error type with the HTTP status, the error code, a readable message and, for validation errors, the problem with each field.
  • Automatic retries. If you hit the per minute rate limit, the request waits as long as the API asks and tries again. Network errors and temporary server errors are retried for reads, updates and deletes, so a create is never sent twice.
  • Rate limits in view. The limit, the requests remaining and the time until it resets are available after every call.

Built to keep your key safe

An API key opens your workspace, so the SDKs are strict about where it goes. The key is only ever sent over https, redirects are never followed, the workspace name is checked so requests cannot be pointed at another server, IDs are escaped so they cannot change which endpoint is called, and the key never appears when the client is printed or logged.

The SDKs are meant for server side code. Never put an API key in a web page or a mobile app.

Public on GitHub

The code is public in our GitHub repository, so you can read exactly what runs before you use it. Download the zip with every language from the latest release, or install straight from GitHub:

  • Python: pip install "git+https://github.com/wssltd/api-sdk.git@v1.0.0#subdirectory=python"
  • Ruby: add the gem from the repository to your Gemfile with the v1.0.0 tag
  • Go: go get github.com/wssltd/api-sdk/go@v1.0.0

The SDKs are source available under the Wizard Application SDK Licence, which lets you use and adapt them with the Wizard Application API. Bug reports and questions are welcome as GitHub issues or by email.

Who can use them

API access is included with the Professional and Enterprise plans. Create a key in Wizard Application under Settings, then API Keys, and give it only the permissions your integration needs, for example read access to jobs.

The API documentation has install steps and a quick start for each language, and the development page has the download. If you are not on Professional or Enterprise yet, compare plans on our pricing page.
