Wizard Application vs Cal.com: How They Compare

Cal.com is a scheduling platform with a generous free plan: unlimited event types and calendars, email and text notifications and Stripe and PayPal payments for one user, with round robin, routing forms and more on its team plans. Its code is published on GitHub, so it can also be self-hosted. Wizard Application Calendar Bookings is part of a wider workspace: booking pages that drop straight into the calendar where your customers, leads, candidates, projects and invoices already live, included on every plan.

If you are deciding between them, this guide sets out how they compare, where each one is strong, and which kind of business each suits best.

Where Cal.com is strong

  • A strong free plan. One person gets unlimited event types and calendars, notifications, payments and CRM sync without paying.
  • More kinds of team scheduling. As well as round robin, collective events everyone attends, routing forms and recurring events on the Teams plan.
  • Open code and self-hosting. Cal.com publishes its code on GitHub, so technical teams can run it on their own servers.
  • Lots of integrations. Over 100 apps, more than 20 video tools, Zapier and Make, an API and webhooks.

Where Wizard Application is different

  • Bookings that are part of your business. Leads and customers who book are linked to their record in Sales, candidates can book a first chat during recruitment, and bookings sit in the same calendar as your interviews, meetings and site visits.
  • Orders and invoices from the booking. Raise an order or invoice straight from an appointment. The service, date, time and address go on the line, the price and tax come from the service, and every order and invoice links back to its booking.
  • Paid bookings that land in your accounts. When a page takes payment, the invoice is made and paid as the person books, so the money sits with that customer's other invoices instead of in a separate tool.
  • Visits to the customer. For trades and call-out work, the booking form asks for the address, no video call is made and each booking goes in your calendar as a site visit.
  • Forms that route to the right page. A form can send people on to the booking page their answers pick, with their details filled in and the booking linked to the lead the form created.
  • Invites by name. Send a customer, lead or candidate a personal link with their details filled in, and see which invites have been booked and which are still waiting.
  • Included, not another subscription. Calendar Bookings is part of every plan, including the free Starter plan, alongside your CRM, projects, HR, help desk and invoicing.

Which should you choose

Cal.com may suit you better if you want a scheduling platform you can shape yourself, with text reminders, routing on CRM data, collective events or self-hosting.

Wizard Application may suit you better if you would rather not connect a separate scheduler to your CRM, and want bookings, customers, invoices and projects in one workspace.

When you are ready to try it, create your free workspace, see everything on the Calendar Bookings page or compare plans.
