Slack is the best known team chat app, built around channels, huddles and a large directory of apps that connect it to the rest of your tools. Wizard Application includes team chat too, with channels, direct messages and threads, but it sits inside the same workspace as your projects, customers, help desk, HR and invoicing, and it is included on every plan.
If you are choosing between them, this guide sets out how they compare, where each one is strong, and which kind of business each suits best.

Where Slack is strong
Slack does chat very well. Huddles let a team jump into a quick call without leaving the conversation, Slack Connect lets you share channels with clients and partners at other companies, and its app directory connects it to almost any tool you already use. Paid plans add unlimited history and AI features, and the desktop and mobile apps are mature and polished. If your team lives in chat all day and runs everything else in separate tools, Slack is a strong choice.
Where Wizard Application is different
- Chat next to the work. Channels, direct messages and threads sit in the same workspace as your projects, customers and support tickets, so the conversation and the thing it is about are one click apart.
- No separate chat bill. Team chat is included on every plan, including the free Starter plan, instead of a price per user on top of the tools you already pay for.
- History you keep. Message history is not cut off by plan, so older conversations stay searchable.
- Automations that post to channels. Blueprints can send a message to a channel when something happens, such as a new lead, a new job application or a completed task.
- One login, one set of permissions. Your team uses the same identity and the same role based access for chat as for everything else, with fewer accounts to add and remove when people join or leave.
- We move you across. Our migration team plans the switch with you, and you check everything on a staging link before you move.
Which should you choose
Slack may suit you better if chat is your main workplace, you rely on huddles or shared channels with other companies, and your projects, customers and billing already run well in separate tools.
Wizard Application may suit you better if you are paying for chat on top of several other tools, want conversations to sit beside the projects, customers and tickets they are about, and would rather run the business on one platform with one bill.
Moving from Slack
If you decide to switch, our migration service starts with a free assessment. We plan the move with you, give you a private staging link to check everything, and you keep working in Slack until you are ready, so there is no downtime.
When you are ready to compare the two properly, see our plans or request a free migration assessment.
